Senator Seeks Probe of Natural-Gas Prices

Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.) asked the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to investigate whether market manipulation contributed to a 55% surge in natural-gas prices since November.
Lieberman said there was no reason for spot market and futures prices to soar, given the amount of fuel stowed in underground storage to augment fresh supplies from pipelines during cold snaps.
