Loyola Marymount Gets Past Fullerton
After leading Cal State Fullerton for much of the second half, Loyola Marymount found itself down by a point with less than 80 seconds remaining in regulation Tuesday night at Titan Gym.
But instead of working to get a close-range shot, junior guard Charles Brown took things into his own hands and made a three-point basket, and the Lions never trailed again, winning, 71-67, in front of 1,230.
“The shot felt good as soon as it left my hand,” said Brown, who led Loyola Marymount with 25 points.
Fullerton (4-5), which trailed at halftime by three points, took a 67-66 lead on two free throws by Anthony Bolton with 1 minute 19 seconds remaining. But Brown stepped up to score the final points for the Lions (7-4).*
