Allison Says Injuries Will Remain Problem This Season

Jason Allison, sidelined for the last two weeks because of a variety of injuries, said this week that he probably wouldn’t be fully sound before next season.

“I don’t think it’s probable,” said the Kings’ top-line center, whose most serious injuries, to his right knee, have been compounded recently by hip and neck strains. “Maybe if I shut it down for a month and a half.”

Has he considered that?

“Some days you feel like it,” said Allison, expected to stay behind today when the Kings leave on a two-game trip that starts Sunday night against the Dallas Stars. “But as long as we’ve got a shot [at the playoffs], I’ve got to get into as many games as I can.

“If it ever got to a point where we absolutely knew we weren’t going to make the playoffs, you’d definitely want to get yourself healthy. But right now, we still think we can make the playoffs.”

Allison, third among the Kings with 28 points, despite having played in only 26 games, has sat out the last five. In eight games before that, after returning from his second knee injury, he had one goal and three assists.

Adam Deadmarsh, out of the lineup since Dec. 15 because of post-concussion symptoms, has been watching practice from the bench in an effort to acclimate to the movement on the ice without giving himself a headache.

“The motion -- everything going on -- kind of makes you feel a little fuzzy.”

Ian Laperriere, whose knee surgery Monday was expected to sideline him for four to six weeks, will practice today and hopes to play Tuesday night at Nashville.
