‘Conceptualist’ lives with two turntables and many dreams

The colors, the attitude and the feeling of Eisbar, his own line of clothing, incorporate the outdoor leisure California lifestyle. And this co-designer and self-described fashion conceptualist knows his leisure lifestyle.

On the run in the great outdoors

I work nearly every weekend, so the time I spend just relaxing is special. There are certain spots that I love--like the stairs in Santa Monica, and the running path along San Vicente in Brentwood. Pretty much year-round you can do these outdoors activities.

Vinyl attraction

I absolutely love movies. When I go to movies I like to stretch out and get comfortable -- like recently when I went to see “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.” I’ve seen it three times already. I can’t get enough of “Rings.” Every Sunday I do a movie, then I shop for music. One of the places that I go to is Amoeba Music. The last time I was there I bought the John Creamer and Stephane K LP and I bought a CD by the Streets, “Original Pirate Material.”

Sometimes I’ll buy vinyl just for the artwork. Oh, and there’s a music store on Melrose, This Is Music, where I get a lot of music. There’s a comic-book store next door that sells manga -- that’s Japanese for anime. I get a lot of inspiration from music, a lot of musical references and a strong sense of Japanese influence, and all of that goes into the look of our T-shirts.

A taste for Thai and Japanese dishes

After the movies, there’s a Thai restaurant, Jitalada. It’s over on Sunset near Normandie. They give you nice, very authentic Thai. I have the barbecued chicken or the mekrob--it’s very, very memorable. And then there’s Sushi Nozawa in Studio City. It’s expensive, but the quality is first rate. You can ask for chef’s choice and he sends over five or six types of sushi -- they’re all delicious! Then you can ask for more eel or albacore or any kind of fish that you want. But the albacore is the best I’ve ever tasted.

A stay-at-home DJ with 2 turntables

I take all of my music home -- I mainly buy house music -- and play it. I’m a bedroom DJ, you know. No mike or anything, but I do have two turntables. It’s very relaxing and creative. Sometimes friends will come over and we party right there in the house -- we don’t have to go out.

If I go out, it might be to Bar Deluxe; it’s run by a friend. I used to go to Giant in Hollywood, they have the best DJ talent.

A dream weekend: lots of dreaming

Of course, my real dream weekend would be going to the Santa Monica stairs, buying some music, seeing a movie and getting a lot of sleep. That’s what I really love, to sleep.
