Judge OKs Freeing Sex Offender From Hospital

A man convicted of molesting at least nine young boys in three states is ready for release, a judge ruled Monday.
Brian DeVries, 44, has spent more than five years at Atascadero State Hospital in a treatment program for sexually violent predators -- the state’s most dangerous repeat sex offenders.
Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Robert Baines said DeVries is now ready for outpatient treatment and close supervision. “He has met his burden and is eligible for supervision and treatment in the community,” Baines said.
