Hahn Wants Exit Plans Posted at Indoor Venues
From Times Staff Reports
Following nightclub disasters in Chicago and Rhode Island, Mayor James K. Hahn on Thursday urged improved safety at local nightclubs, restaurants and other places where crowds gather.
The mayor recommended that announcements indicating the location of all exits be required at indoor venues, and that emergency exit plans -- similar to those found in hotel rooms -- be posted in nightclub restrooms and lobby areas.
The matter is expected to be heard before the Los Angeles City Council’s Public Safety Committee in the coming weeks.
