Miracles and Mischief: Noh and Kyogen Theater in Japan: This first comprehensive U.S. survey of Japanese Noh and Kyogen lore, closing Sunday at LACMA, features delicate carved wooden masks, elaborate woven and embellished costumes, lacquered musical instruments and hand scrolls from the 600-year-old art form.
While the more serious Noh drama is devoted in large part to the inner lives of ghosts, Kyogen theater is a form of comic drama that deals with everyday life. The two traditionally alternate on the same program and share a common heritage. Due to the fragility of the objects, L.A. is the only American stop for the show.

Ends Sunday at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, 5905 Wilshire Blvd., L.A. (323) 857-6000.
