Foreigners Head Out Amid Fears of Violence

French nationals and other foreigners waited in long lines in Abidjan for flights out of Ivory Coast as the former French colony braced for what many fear could be the violent collapse of a peace deal.
“I saw a sign that said, ‘Kill the French,’ ” said Jean-Pierre Vivet of Paris. Loyalist mobs blame the French for compromises in a peace accord the loyalists contend yields too much to the rebels.
