NBC Veteran Falco Named Group President of Network
Longtime NBC executive Randy Falco on Thursday was named group president of the NBC television network, assuming many of the duties of former NBC President Andrew Lack, who resigned this month to head Sony Corp.’s music division.
Falco, 49, went to work for NBC in 1975 at age 22. He steadily rose through the ranks and, since 1998, has been president of the NBC network, overseeing affiliate station relations, sales and marketing, broadcast standards, research and network operations.
He will expand those duties to assume responsibility for corporate business development, cable distribution and strategy, production operations and information technology.
Falco will report to NBC Chairman and Chief Executive Bob Wright.
One of Falco’s challenges will be maximizing recent acquisitions, including Spanish-language television network Telemundo and Bravo cable network. “We now have platforms that we are really going to manage in an integrated way,” Falco said.
The son of an RCA engineer, Falco has an MBA and six Emmys for Olympics coverage.
