Update -- The abrupt departure of Latasha Byears, waived by the Sparks on Tuesday, could mean more playing time for Jennifer Gillom, who is averaging only 7.5 minutes and three points a game. But the league’s second all-time leading scorer behind teammate Lisa Leslie is still cautious. “I’ve been patient, and I know there will be some opportunities where I’ll get a few more minutes,” Gillom said. “But my mentality is to be ready whenever they need me. Of course they need me to step up [offensively] a little more.” Indiana, playing the second of three road games tonight, looked as bad in its 78-51 loss to Seattle on Tuesday as it looked good in its 86-66 win over New York last Saturday. Natalie Williams, who went to Indiana in a trade from San Antonio, has struggled with the Fever. So far the two-time All-Star forward is averaging only 8.8 points and 5.8 rebounds.
