ESPN gets going on its first drama

ESPN has started production on what it describes as its first scripted dramatic series. The hourlong show about a professional football team, “Playmakers,” is set to premiere Aug. 26.
The show will star Tony Denison as the head coach, with Omar Gooding, Russell Hornsby, Jason Matthew Smith, Marcello Thedford and Chris Wiehl as players.
