* Stat of the Day -- Five Russian women have reached the fourth round at a Grand Slam for the first time: Elena Dementieva, Anastasia Myskina, Maria Sharapova, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Vera Zvonareva.

Family Circle Cup (clay): Lost in first round to Maja Matevzic.
French Open (clay): Lost in first round to Magui Serna.
DFS Classic (grass): Won four matches, lost to Shinobu Asagoe in semifinals.
Wimbledon (grass): Upset Jelena Dokic to advance to fourth round.
