90 Points Not in Cards
With 69 points and only 10 games to play, the Kings won’t reach 90 points for the first time in four seasons under Coach Andy Murray.
Still, in a season wrecked by injuries, “I feel as a coach that our coaching staff has probably done as good a job this year as we’ve ever done,” Murray said. “That’s not patting ourselves on the back but ... we’ve worked every bit as hard, if not harder, than we’ve ever worked in trying to maximize what we can out of our team.”
Before Murray’s arrival, the Kings had never put together two consecutive 90-point seasons. And they hadn’t had any since 1990-91, when they racked up 102 points under Tom Webster and won their only division title.

Before defeating Ottawa on Jan. 30, the Kings were eight points out of a playoff spot after a 4-14-0-1 stretch. Since then, they are 11-9-1 but have fallen nine points out of the eighth position.
