“The ChubbChubbs”
Eric Armstrong
Directed by Eric Armstrong, the animation supervisor on “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” “The ChubbChubbs!” is a sci-fi comedy set in a bar on a desert planet. There, a hapless janitor named Meeper mops floors and dreams of singing stardom; his life, and the lives of the equally strange customers, are interrupted by the arrival of a group of ferocious creatures known as the ChubbChubbs.
The digitally animated film is a production of Sony Imageworks and was shown in theaters preceding last summer’s hit “Men in Black II.” The six-minute short features fleeting sendups of several sci-fi stars, from Jar Jar Binks to E.T.
