Landslides Feared as Storm Approaches

Tropical Storm Linfa, packing winds of 67 mph, was headed toward southern Japan after leaving a trail of wreckage and fatalities in the Philippines. The Meteorological Agency in Japan warned of possible landslides and strong winds by tonight.
Linfa left 25 dead, 12 missing and thousands displaced after five days of heavy rains and flooding in the Philippines. Damage there was estimated at more than $1.1 million.
