Giguere Is ‘Proud’ of Second Victory

Jean-Sebastien Giguere handled victory as nonplused as he has handled defeat this season. It’s just the victories have been rare.

Giguere doubled his win total with the Mighty Ducks’ 2-1 overtime victory against Phoenix on Sunday. He stopped 29 of 30 shots, winning for the first time since Oct. 22 against Philadelphia.

“This is something for all of us to be proud of,” Giguere said. “You feel good coming out of a game like that. Now it is over with.”

Giguere deserved that feeling a couple of times in the last week. He lost overtime games against St. Louis and Phoenix in that span, having to endure first-period onslaughts in both games.

“The good thing about Jiggy,” Coach Mike Babcock said. “When he leaves the rink tonight, he’ll leave the game here. When nothing is going good, you take it with you, so you’re never off. It’s like 24 hours a day.”

Duck General Manager Bryan Murray has had talks with Edmonton officials about trading for holdout forward Mike Comrie, a hockey source said.

Oiler officials are believed to have asked for a package that would include at least Joffrey Lupul, the Ducks’ top pick in the 2002 draft, and a draft pick.

Comrie, 23, scored 33 goals two seasons ago and 20 goals last season. Lupul has two goals and six points in 15 games this season.
