Body Is Believed to Be Retired UC Professor’s
A body found in a remote area of Yolo County is probably that of a retired UC Davis nutrition professor who disappeared a week ago, police said.
Fredric Hill, 85, was reported missing around 7 a.m. last Sunday after family members noticed that he and his family’s car were gone, police said.
On Saturday morning, a passerby found a body next to Hill’s tan 1990 Volvo station wagon in a ditch several miles southeast of Davis, in a remote area of Yolo County, police said.
The man called police about 9:30 a.m. as more than 100 volunteers prepared to search for Hill, said Davis police Lt. Jim Harritt. “We have every reason to believe it’s him,” Harritt said. “The clothing and description match.”
The Yolo County coroner will conduct an autopsy to confirm the identity and determine the cause of death, Harritt said. Police said they didn’t have any reason to suspect that foul play, drugs or alcohol were involved.
