State sales of million-dollar houses sizzle
Sales of million-dollar homes in California continued at a record-setting pace in the third quarter.
Statewide, 5,857 houses of $1 million or more were sold in July through September. That was up 20.8% from the second quarter and was 58.4% higher than the third quarter last year, according to DataQuick Information Systems.
Sales in Southern California were up 67.6% from a year ago, while Bay Area sales rose 47.6% for the same period.
Among confirmed purchases was a 7,507-square-foot, six-bedroom, eight-bathroom Hermosa Beach house, which sold for $8.1 million in July.
Among the largest was a seven-bedroom, 10-bathroom, 15,272-square-foot house in Rolling Hills, which went for $7 million in August.
