Jones Has the Edge With Four Entries

Trainer Paul Jones will have four chances to win the $1,367,650 Los Alamitos Million on Dec. 12 after he had four 2-year-olds qualify for the Grade I during the 10 trials held Friday -- Well I Never, Cash For Kas, A Regal Choice and Real Quik Dasher.

Among the horses not trained by Jones that qualified was Hawkish, winner of the Ed Burke Memorial and Kindergarten Futurity, who will be the first horse to go into the Million with a chance to win a $1-million bonus for winning the three races.

Four! A Blurr and Short Sale in the first, Rosie My Buddie, Gin n’ Tychonic and Kellys Hat in the second, Rapidly Done Gone in the third and Foot Loose, Ura Vision, Shems and The Final Answer in the fourth.

Shots in the dark: Ketel One gets jockey Carlos Bautista for his local bow in the fifth. Cat Speed should improve off that last one for trainer Chuck Treece in the eighth.
