RECALL Q
If Gov. Gray Davis is recalled and Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante doesn’t win the successor election, will Bustamante stay in office?
Yes. Bustamante was elected independently of Gov. Gray Davis in the 2002 statewide election. He will serve out his term unless he is elected to replace Davis. If Bustamante is elected governor, he will nominate a new lieutenant governor. That appointment would need approval from the Legislature.
