Cash wins posthumously
A week after Johnny Cash’s death, the singer and his latest album took three top honors at the fourth Americana Music Awards, handed out Friday in Nashville.
Cash was named artist of the year, his “American IV: The Man Comes Around” was selected as the year’s best album, and the Trent Reznor song “Hurt” that Cash sang on the album was named song of the year.
The 4-year-old Americana Music Assn. consists of about 900 musicians, songwriters, club owners, managers, booking agents, record company executives, retailers, journalists and others in the music business.
