Racial Profiling

I applaud your Sept. 28 editorial against Proposition 54, but the most nefarious aspect of this proposition appears to have slipped under the radar. Far from making California a “colorblind” society, it would legalize the practice of racial profiling by police, effectively allowing police to round up members of a given ethnic group or race. The police are specifically exempted from the law’s provisions, but the collection of information that could be used to prove discriminatory practices by the police would be, of course, made illegal.
