If a candidate drops out of the race, what happens to all the absentee ballots already cast for that person?
After paper ballots are printed, candidates cannot officially withdraw from an election race. So any votes cast for a candidate whose name is on the ballot will be counted, even if the candidate has announced that he or she is dropping out. And once a voter has sent in an absentee ballot, there is no way to cancel it and vote again.
