Job Education -- Without the Jobs

Re “Bush Links More Rigorous Schooling to Getting Jobs,” April 7: President Bush is proposing new requirements for vocational education, science and math that will make American education more rigorous and better prepare students for the world of work. Why? It seems to me that the real problem in America today is making sure that students who already have good educations can find jobs here in the U.S. Unfortunately, jobs that require a computer education are being outsourced to India. Highly skilled work in film animation is being “exported” to South Korea.

Does promoting higher education standards make any sense when the administration has adopted an economic policy that encourages the outsourcing of thousands of jobs?
