N.C. Chancellor Named to Same Post at UCSD
Regents of the University of California on Monday approved the appointment of North Carolina State University Chancellor Marye Anne Fox, 56, as the new leader of UC San Diego, effective in August.
UC President Robert C. Dynes, who was chancellor of UC San Diego until he took his current job last fall, praised Fox, a chemist, as a gifted academic and dynamic campus leader.
Her salary was set at $350,000, making her the second-highest paid chancellor in the UC system behind UC San Francisco Chancellor J. Michael Bishop.
UC officials said the salary, although a nearly 25% increase over the previous salary for the position, still lags those at comparable institutions.
