Rock-Climbing Simi Valley Boy Hurt in Fall
A 12-year-old Simi Valley boy was hospitalized with serious head injuries Thursday after falling more than 100 feet from a cliff in Santa Susana Park, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
The boy, whose name was not released, was flown by helicopter to Northridge Hospital Medical Center. Officials there declined to release his condition.
According to county Fire Department spokesman Joe Luna, the boy fell about 2:40 p.m. while rock climbing behind the park’s baseball diamond. A witness called emergency personnel, who rappelled down the cliff to the boy, Luna said.
