Man, 20, Fatally Shot After Wallet Theft

A 20-year-old man was fatally shot in the head Friday night after trying to get his wallet back from a mugger near Lanark Park, police said.

The victim and a friend were walking home from a video store about 10 p.m. when they were confronted by three men, one of whom drew a gun and demanded their wallets, said Officer Don Cox, a police spokesman.

The three suspects started to walk away when the victim ran after them in an attempt to get his wallet back, Cox said. The victim, whose identity has not been released, died Saturday at a hospital. The suspects remain at large.
