2 Survive Plane Crash Into Avocado Orchard
A 79-year-old pilot and his 68-year-old passenger escaped with their lives Tuesday when their ultralight plane crashed in an avocado orchard near Camarillo.
John Denney and Marilyn Jensen, both from Los Angeles, were taken to Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura after the 8 a.m. crash, authorities said.
The extent of their injuries was not immediately known, but they were not believed to be life-threatening, authorities said.
Witnesses said the two-person ultralight aircraft appeared to have mechanical problems before it crashed. The owner of the orchard saw the accident and rushed to aid the victims before calling for help on his cellphone.
