7 Teens Among Dead in Riding-School Fire
From Times Wire Reports
Fire struck an equestrian school in eastern France, killing seven teenagers as they slept. Two adults were also believed dead, and a riding instructor was severely burned.
The school in Lescheraines, set amid a park in the Bauges mountains of the Savoie region, consisted of three wooden buildings with a riding ring and administrative offices. The charred dormitory was 100 yards from the stables, which were undamaged.
The teenagers, between 13 and 15 years old, were from the area but stayed at the school overnight, local authorities said.
