Deputies Search for Work Detail Inmate
Ventura County authorities are searching for a jail inmate who walked away from a work detail in Camarillo, officials said Thursday.
David Wayne Echols, 20, escaped about 2 p.m. Wednesday from the sheriff’s aviation unit in the 300 block of Durley Avenue at Camarillo Airport, authorities said. Deputies searched the immediate area without success.
Echols was charged with possession of a controlled substance and petty theft, authorities said. He is described as white, about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, 200 pounds, with a shaved head, goatee, green eyes and a skeleton tattoo on his upper right arm.
Anyone with information on Echols’ whereabouts is asked to call (805) 654-5161.
