Bringing Troops Home Poses a Huge Threat
Re “Bush Unveils Plan to Move Troops Home,” Aug. 17: Once again, President Bush makes an election-year political decision that puts America and the world in jeopardy. Pulling 70,000 troops out of South Korea, Bosnia and Japan as well as other places where they are needed to secure the peace is a huge mistake that will cause a huge economic loss to the countries where they are stationed.
The proposal to bring them home over the next 10 years will ultimately send the wrong message to places like North Korea, Iran and other places where nuclear weapons are either already developed or in the process of being developed, putting the world at risk.
