Mark Teixeira became the second player in Ranger history -- and the first in more than 19 years -- to hit for the cycle, leading Texas to a 16-4 rout of the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night in Arlington, Texas.

Teixeira had four hits and drove in a career-high seven runs as the Rangers stretched their winning streak to five games and gave Scott Erickson (1-2) his first victory in more than two years. Doug Brocail pitched the final three innings for his first save since July 7, 1999, with Detroit.

Teixeira hit a two-run double, a three-run homer, a two-run triple and a single for the club’s first cycle since Oddibe McDowell accomplished the feat on July 23, 1985, against the Indians.

Boston 5, Toronto 4 -- Orlando Cabrera hit a run-scoring, game-winning double in the ninth inning on reliever Justin Speier’s second pitch in Boston.

Pinch-hitter Dave Roberts drew a leadoff walk in the ninth and was forced out at second base on Johnny Damon’s grounder off Kevin Frederick (0-2). Speier relieved and Cabrera, 13 for 65 since he was acquired July 31, hit a drive off the Green Monster in left field. Damon came around and slid in ahead of Kevin Cash’s tag.
