Search Ends for Missing Fishing Boat and Crew
SAN DIEGO
The Coast Guard on Monday ended its search for a fishing boat with two crew members, including a member of a prominent San Diego fishing family.
A Coast Guard cutter, helicopter and C-130 airplane searched Sunday and early Monday in an area 30 miles southwest of San Diego after receiving an emergency radio signal.
Still missing is the fishing boat Gina Lisa, whose home port is San Francisco. Aboard were Vito Romani, 45, and a crewman whose name was not released. The Romani family has been part of the San Diego fishing community for decades.
Searchers spotted a life raft and debris but no other sign of the 43-foot boat.
