The President Does Not Deserve a ‘Honeymoon’
Your article about the voter honeymoon eluding President Bush opens with the line “Despite a clear-cut reelection ...” (“Reelection Honeymoon With Voters Eludes Bush, Polls Say,” Dec. 28). With the allegations of voter fraud, questionable tactics by the GOP in several key states and an investigation into the Ohio election, the term “clear-cut” would not be how most informed people would describe the election.
When a story opens with such an outright distortion, it is easy to dismiss the entire story. Let’s have some real journalism here. Democracy depends on informed citizenry. Instead of feigning a “Gee, what happened?” attitude, The Times should be doing its part to provide a clear and full accounting of the election problems.

Bush’s election honeymoon will never take place, and his popularity will reach an all-time low. After all, we are not fighting “insurgents,” we are fighting Iraqi people who want us out of their country. A blood-bath election will shake any support left for our invasion and occupation of Iraq.
