Woman Killed When Struck by Pickup

A 61-year-old pedestrian was killed early Friday when she was struck by a pickup about a block from her home, police said.
Parveen Ruhi was pronounced dead at the scene of the 6 a.m. accident in the 800 block of North Euclid Street.
She was struck by a southbound pickup driven by Alvaro Rivera, 52, police said. Rivera was not cited, pending an investigation. Police said he tried unsuccessfully to stop when he saw Ruhi in the street.
