A Big Pick Six at Aqueduct
Racing is scheduled at Aqueduct today for the first time since Wednesday, and there is a carry-over of $761,021 in the pick six, the largest in New York since 1990.
Bettors at Santa Anita and its simulcast facilities will be able to play that pick six today, which wouldn’t have been the case had there been racing Thursday, one of the two days canceled because of snow and bitter cold.
The pick six begins with Race 5 on the 10-race program and there are no obvious singles.
There are two horses in the pick six races with ties to Southern California. Two Four Dancer, who won two in succession during Hollywood Park’s fall meet, will make her first start for owner Michael Gill in the seventh. Then, a race later, another recent Gill purchase, Lou’s Expectation, is scheduled to try for his 11th lifetime victory in a $45,000 allowance at six furlongs.
Race of the day: Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer will send out Heavenly Humor and Secret Corsage in the $60,000 Miss California at Golden Gate Fields. The six furlong sprint for 3-year-old fillies also attracted Little Foxy Baby, Smoke Break, Uppity Kitty and Swingin’ Notes. Kevin Radke will ride Heavenly Humor and Ron Warren Jr. will be on Secret Corsage.
One for the road: And Thats My Story is the controlling speed in today’s fifth at Gulfstream Park and can go wire to wire under jockey Rene Douglas in the $50,000 claimer for fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles. The 5-year-old Silver Ghost mare won over the track in 2003 for trainer Paul McGee.
Exotically speaking: A pick three using Master David in the seventh, Royal Price, Haasil, Saint Buddy and Bucanero Gris in the eighth and Miss All That, Princess Malice and Freckle Frick in the ninth.
Winners: Previous day/meet total: 3/48. Money: Previous day/meet total: $11/$233.80. Total money bet: $292.
