Best Foot Forward
The problem with “Left-Foot Braking” (letter, Jan. 13) is that most people who use this technique have a tendency to ride the brake or tap it unnecessarily, and if they are in an SUV and you can’t see around them you treat every little tap on the brake as a warning from them that there is a problem in front of them, which there really isn’t. Before automatic transmissions, everyone drove a stick shift, which didn’t give you the opportunity to use your left foot to apply the brake.
