Inmate Who Walked Away Is Re-Arrested
From Times Staff Reports
An inmate who walked away from a work crew last week was recaptured Monday, police said.
Luis Duarte, 21, convicted of causing bodily injury while driving drunk, was arrested about noon at an apartment in the 1700 block of North Spurgeon Street, said Sgt. Carlos Rojas of the Santa Ana Police Department.
Duarte had walked away from a crew working in front of the sheriff’s office in Santa Ana on Friday, Rojas said.
Duarte, scheduled for release in September, faces up to five years in state prison if convicted of the escape, authorities said.
