Sciarra to Transfer to Wagner
The exodus of UCLA players continued Friday when reserve quarterback John Sciarra announced he would transfer to Wagner College in Staten Island, N.Y., after the spring quarter.
Sciarra, a redshirt sophomore in 2003, played behind Drew Olson and Matt Moore last season and did not throw a pass. In 2002, he completed five of 12 passes for 75 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Sciarra, son of former Bruin All-American John Sciarra, has two years of eligibility remaining and can play next season because Wagner is a Division 1-AA school.
In addition to Sciarra, Moore, tailback Tyler Ebell, receiver Tab Perry and cornerback Matt Ware have all left UCLA since the end of the season for various reasons.
Olson will be the only experienced quarterback next season. Walk-on Brian Callahan also returns and UCLA will bring in junior college transfer David Koral and freshman Patrick Cowan.
