Man, 33, Dies After Parachute Fails to Open

A man fell 1,000 feet to his death after his parachute failed to open during a base jump from a mountain, authorities said.
The name of the man, who was 33, was not immediately released.
The victim was one of three men jumping from the north face of Baring Mountain, about 30 miles northeast of Seattle, said Jan Jorgensen, a sheriff’s spokeswoman.
The other two jumpers parachuted safely.
