Earthquakes Hit Coast, Riverside County Desert

A magnitude 4.1 earthquake shook the Central Coast on Tuesday, and a separate 4.0 quake rattled parts of Riverside County.
The coast temblor, at 4:45 p.m., was centered nine miles northeast of San Simeon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
A magnitude 6.5 quake hit that area Dec. 22, killing two people in Paso Robles and damaging that city’s historic downtown.
The second quake, at 5:53 p.m., was centered about 28 miles east-southeast of Palm Springs.
No damages were reported from either quake.
