Invest in Education, Not Wasteful Lawsuits
Re “1 Teen’s Action May Help Many,” July 11: California spends $18 million defending itself against a suit that accused the state of “denying poor children the well-trained teachers, up-to-date textbooks and clean schools needed for a decent education.” What is it about education that our politicos don’t understand?
Don’t they realize that a well-educated person is better equipped to get a good-paying job?
Don’t they realize that a high-wage earner will be a contributor to society in many ways, including paying higher taxes than minimum-wage earners?
Couldn’t the state have spent the $18 million more wisely if it had just replaced the worn textbooks and repaired the below-standard classrooms?
