Cavaliers Say They Won’t Keep Boozer
Forward Carlos Boozer signed a six-year, $68-million offer sheet with the Utah Jazz, and Cleveland Cavalier owner Gordon Gund said he had no intention of matching it.
Boozer, who became a restricted free agent when Cleveland made a controversial decision not to pick up his third-year option, signed with the Jazz early Wednesday.
The Cavaliers have maintained they had an understanding with Boozer to work out a long-term contract. Boozer has denied there was an agreement.

New Raptor General Manager Rob Babcock declined to comment on a rumored three-way deal involving Dallas and New York but insisted he wants swingman Vince Carter to stay in Toronto. Carter is said to be unhappy that he wasn’t involved in the general manager search.

San Antonio Spur swingman Manu Ginobili and his family will have police protection in his native Argentina after police overheard a kidnapping plan in a phone tap, officials said in Buenos Aires. Ginobili, married on Saturday, is expected to sign a six-year, $52-million deal to remain with the Spurs.

Seattle SuperSonic center Vitaly Potapenko was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence Sunday after a confrontation with police outside a Miami Beach nightclub.

Point guard Steve Nash signed a five-year, $65-million contract with Phoenix.... Guard Marquis Daniels signed a five-year, $30.6-million deal to stay with Dallas.... Free-agent forward Bruce Bowen re-signed for three years and $12 million with San Antonio.... Center Adonal Foyle re-signed with Golden State for six years and $40.6 million.... Washington center Etan Thomas signed a six-year, $37-million offer sheet with Milwaukee.... Forward Brian Skinner signed a five-year, $25-million contract with Philadelphia.... Center Mark Blount re-signed with the Boston Celtics for six years and $42 million.... Detroit center Mehmet Okur signed a six-year, $50-million offer sheet with Utah. The Pistons are not expected to match it.... Forward Brian Cardinal signed a six-year, $37-million contract with Memphis.... Point guard Rafer Alston signed a six-year, $29-million deal with the Toronto Raptors.
