Mark Buehrle pitched a two-hitter, retiring the first 19 batters and facing the minimum 27 to lead the Chicago White Sox over the Indians, 14-0, Wednesday night at Cleveland.

Buehrle (10-3), who was miffed he didn’t make the AL All-Star team, didn’t allow a runner until Omar Vizquel lined a 3-and-2 pitch out of the reach of shortstop Jose Valentin with one out in the seventh.

“He faced the minimum, that doesn’t happen very often,” White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko said.

“That team was as hot as anyone in the world, so that’s pretty impressive.”

Buehrle struck out four and walked none for his fifth career shutout and first complete game since Aug. 8.

New York 10, Toronto 3 -- After the Yankees won easily at New York thanks in part to a three-run homer by Gary Sheffield, the team announced that shortstop Derek Jeter has a small fracture in his right hand, yet he does not need surgery and will not wear a cast.

Jeter was hit by a pitch from Tampa Bay’s Victor Zambrano on Tuesday. As to when Jeter will return to the lineup, “it could be as early as [today],” General Manager Brian Cashman said.

Slugger Jason Giambi, however, isn’t sure exactly when he’ll play again.

Giambi has been bothered by an intestinal parasite this season, and a new set of doctors is trying to determine why he’s still fatigued. Giambi said he was checked for cancer on Wednesday -- nothing was found.

Giambi will be examined for infectious diseases today.

Baltimore 10, Boston 5 -- Pedro Martinez gave up a season-high eight runs at Boston and lost for the first time since May 16.

David Newhan was four for five with an inside-the-park, two-run homer, a double and two singles, his third four-hit game since the Orioles signed him June 18.

Seattle 6, Oakland 5 -- Bucky Jacobsen led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a homer to give the Mariners a win at Seattle. The A’s had tied the score, 5-5, in the top of the eighth on a two-run homer by Scott Hatteberg.

Minnesota 12, Tampa Bay 2 -- Backup catcher Henry Blanco was three for four with a homer and three runs batted in at Minneapolis.

Luis Rivas hit a three-run homer, Justin Morneau had three hits and an RBI, and Lew Ford homered and scored three runs for the Twins, who got a season-best 17 hits and scored eight times in the fourth inning against Devil Ray starter John Halama.

Detroit 4, Kansas City 2 -- Ivan Rodriguez, Rondell White and Marcus Thames homered for the Tigers at Detroit. Mike Maroth (7-7) gave up two runs and six hits in six innings for the win. Coming off a one-hit shutout of the Yankees, he walked two and struck out one.
