Teens Allegedly Killed Man Out of Boredom
Three teenagers told police that the fatal beating they gave to a homeless man in Oakland began out of boredom, according to the lead investigator on the case.
“Basically, they said they did this because they were bored and they didn’t have anything to do,” homicide Sgt. Bruce Brock said. “It ended up that their fun was harassing this homeless guy, and things just escalated.”
The boys, two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old whose names were not released because of their ages, were arrested Friday in the death of Dalrus Joseph Brown, 55. Brown, who often stayed in a homeless encampment near an abandoned factory, was killed early July 17 while he was sleeping, Brock said.
