Bill Clinton’s income dips
Former President Bill Clinton earned almost $4 million for speeches last year -- less than half what he got each of the previous two years -- as he focused on writing his memoirs, a financial disclosure statement on Monday showed.
For two-dozen speeches around the globe, Clinton received a total of about $3.9 million in 2003, according to the statement. He received more than $9 million in speaking fees in each of 2001 and 2002.
The disclosure statement was filed by Clinton’s wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, a New York Democrat. All members of Congress must make such reports each year. Those by senators were released on Monday.
According to published reports, the former president received an advance of more than $10 million for his memoirs, “My Life,” set to hit bookstores this month.
