Poles Plan Trip for Iraqi Orphans
WARSAW — Twenty children who lost their parents during the Iraq war will travel to the mountains of southern Poland this month for a 10-day vacation sponsored by the Polish military and a charity, a military officer said Monday.
The 10 boys and 10 girls, ages 10 to 12, live in orphanages in the south-central Iraqi city of Hillah.
“I would like the children to see a nation without a war, without a conflict,” said Lt. Col. Cezary Kiszkowiak of the Polish-led international force in Iraq.
The military will pay about $20,000 for travel, and Children’s Dreams will cover other costs.
