Council OKs $1.2 Million to Settle Protesters’ Suit
From Times Staff Reports
The City Council voted Wednesday to pay $1.2 million to settle a class-action lawsuit brought by 85 protesters who had complained of their treatment by Los Angeles police during the Democratic National Convention in 2000.
The protesters contended that police hit them with beanbags, rubber bullets and batons.
