3 O.C. Teens Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Man, 19
Orange County sheriff’s deputies arrested three teenagers early Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man during a gang fight last week in Laguna Hills.
Two suspects, 16- and 17-year-old brothers, were arrested at their home in the 25200 block of Stockport Street.
It was the apartment complex where Edward Mauricio Rendon III was fatally shot Friday after a fight involving as many as 12 people with baseball bats, knives and at least one gun, said sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino.
Deputies also arrested a 17-year-old at his home in Mission Viejo.
The teens’ names were withheld because they are minors. They are being held at Juvenile Hall in Orange.
Deputies responded to several calls Friday from residents reporting a fight and gunshots at the apartment complex. When deputies arrived, they found bloodstains and a knife but nothing else, authorities said. After checking with hospitals, deputies found Rendon at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills with a gunshot wound to his chest. He died during surgery.
Amormino said the investigation was continuing and that other arrests were possible.
