Not everyone loves fur
It is sickening me to continue reading the ecstatic prose of fashion writers gushing about the use of fur in designer’s creations (“Ford Bids a Foxy Farewell,” Feb. 26). The rhetoric is celebratory, as always, and, irony of ironies, the song “You’re Free” was playing at the Gucci show!
Don’t people know that the fur industry is based on the torture and killing of thousands of creatures? That the wild ones are caught in traps that shred them, maim them, starve them? That the “farmed” ones are incarcerated for weeks in tiny cages and then killed by anal or vaginal electrocution? That some are skinned alive? And we wear fur to be “pretty.” I want to puke.
